Christmas Sandwiches Bento

snowman and tree bento

Here is a simple bento I made my little grandson in a Lunchbots Trio, which you can find here. This bento contains 2 little sandwiches - one peanut butter, and one cheese. For the peanut butter sandwich I cut out the top piece of bread with a tree cookie cutter, and sprinkled a little green cupcake sugar over it to make it look more tree-like. The cheese sandwich was so easy and fun to make! I made a sandwich with provolone cheese, then for the top piece of bread I used a snowman cutter to make the opening. After that, I slipped a little piece of nori under the cut-out to make the hat, and added dots cut with a nori punch and a sliver of carrot for the rest of the details - easy, and fast!

I rounded out the rest of the lunch with festive cubes of kiwi and red pear to add some more Christmas color. It was the perfect lunch for a one year old. There was just one problem... ( and I shudder when I look at this peanut butter sandwich) I made this for my little Bento Buddy nearly 2 weeks ago, and decided to use the photos this week. Well, since that time we have learned that he is allergic to peanuts! Of course nobody knew at the time, but I still feel bad about serving this to him! Oh well, from now on he'll be getting cashew butter sandwiches at grandma's house 🙂

I really love my Lunchbots bento boxes - I love their streamlined, stainless steel look! You can find all their awesome products right here:

thanks Kim! It's not as hard as you might think to make sandwiches fun for kids. Once you start using cookie cutters instead of just a knife to cut a sandwich you'll see!
